Ron Paul is not the answer; he thinks the Barbary Wars were George W. Bush's fault

America's oldest military monument, carved of marble from a quarry used by Michelangelo.
Dedicated to those who perished in our Republic's first War of Self-Defense Against Allah, the First Barbary War.

Interesting images on the monument dedicated to defending America against jihad.
Are those Buddhists? After all, why would Religionists of Peace appear on an American war memorial?
In response to some comments on an article regarding Obama's trampling of the Constitution:
I've always admired Ron Paul for his defense of the Constitution.

However, I cannot support him as Commander-in-Chief, since he's stated his belief that if we leave Islam alone, it will leave us alone.

Nothing is further from the truth. Islam exploded out of Arabia nearly one and one-half millennia ago and has since waged war against the non-Muslim world on the basis of universal, open-ended commands like "kill the pagans wherever you find them" (Qur'an 9:5).

Paul's position on jihad is essentially the Left's: When Muslims attack us, it's our fault.

If you really believe that, then how do explain the Barbary pirates attacking American shipping just after the Revolution? (George W. Bush wouldn't be born for another two centuries!) You historians will recall what Adams and Jefferson discovered when they asked our Muslim antagonists why they were attacking us, since we had done nothing to them:
"In March 1785, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams went to London to negotiate with Tripoli's envoy, Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman (or Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja). Upon inquiring "concerning the ground of the pretensions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury", the ambassador replied:
"'It was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every mussulman who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise. He said, also, that the man who was the first to board a vessel had one slave over and above his share, and that when they sprang to the deck of an enemy's ship, every sailor held a dagger in each hand and a third in his mouth; which usually struck such terror into the foe that they cried out for quarter at once'" ("First Barbary War," Wikipedia; Jefferson reported this revelation to Secretary of Foreign Affairs John Jay, who reported it to Congress. America's oldest military monument is dedicated to our first effort against Islamic jihad).
Obama says, "Respect Islam." Paul says, "It's our fault." Romney says, "There's nothing inherently violent about Islam." That's utter nescience (or worse, treason).

We need to fill the Oval Office -- and the Congress! -- with citizens who understand not only that government exists to protect our rights (and not that we live as a resource for the State to exploit), but that while there may be moderate Muslims (research "taqiyya"), Islam itself is not "moderate."

Crusades were Christian military and religious expeditions launched both against rival religions (primarily Islam) and even other Christians. Not only did the Crusades lay the groundwork for medieval Christian society and feudalism, but they also laid the groundwork for contemporary violence between Muslims and Christians. Both Islam and Christianity become involved with mass murder over religion, holy sites, and religious beliefs for centuries. It's little wonder that so many see religion as more a force for violence than peace. Historically, some of the most shocking brutality in the region was justified by the Bible, not the Koran. Crusaders massacred so many men, women and children that a Christian chronicler, Fulcher of Chartres, described an area ankle-deep in blood, the crusaders singing, “Christ, We Adore Thee.”
The Islamic scriptures in the Quran were actually far less bloody and less violent than those in the Bible….

Deuteronomy 17
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant; 17:3 And hath gone and served other gods, and worshipped them, either the sun, or moon, or any of the host of heaven, which I have not commanded; 17:4 And it be told thee, and thou hast heard of it, and enquired diligently, and, behold, it be true, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought in Israel; 17:5 Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, even that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.

Hello, Clare, and thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I'm curious: Why would you post obviously and demonstrably false statements regarding Christianity and Islam?

Do you have any pride? Any intellectual integrity? Copying and pasting from atheism.about.com (http://atheism.about.com/od/crusades/ or one of its spawn) hardly indicates that you're an honest broker.

So, rather than regurgitate someone else's lies, why don't you do your own homework?

Do you find it ironic that your hatred of Christianity leads to you defend Islam?

Though atrocities were committed during the Crusades by Christians (against Jews, Muslims, and fellow Christians), it is completely false that they "laid the groundwork for contemporary violence between Muslims and Christians." That's a lie told by Muslims to justify their beheading Christian schoolgirls in Indonesia and flying planes into buildings in New York. Strange bedfellows, you have there, Clare.

Your false moral equivalence between Christianity and Islam betrays the fact that you've read neither the Bible nor Islam's authoritative texts.

(And if you had studied Islam at all, you'd know that it is more than Qur'an; it is also ahadith and sira, the sayings of Muhammad and his biography, respectively -- but not respectfully.)

It is plainly absurd to claim that "some of the most shocking brutality in the region was justified by the Bible, not the Koran [. . .] The Islamic scriptures in the Quran were actually far less bloody and less violent than those in the Bible…."

Nowhere does the Bible command offensive warfare against "unbelievers." In fact, your own example from Deuteronomy was a command under the Mosaic Law. That means it was applicable to the people of ancient Israel only and part of a contract into which they had entered voluntarily. On the other hand, Islam requires the slavery or slaughter of all who refuse the "invitation" to convert.

In other words, The Son of God committed no sin, spoke only the truth, healed the sick, raised the dead, died for the sins of the whole world, and resurrected. He gave the world the Ten Commandments and the Golden Rule and forgives all sins, rescues from death and the devil, and gives eternal salvation to all who trust in Him.

But Muhammad? Islam's "Ideal Man" Muhammad -- Allah's "beautiful pattern of conduct" for those who want to please him -- preached and practiced genocide, pedophilia, rape, slavery, torture, mutilation, theft, extortion, wife-beating, polygyny, religious and gender apartheid, deceit, blasphemy, and treason, warning his devotees that "Allah made me do it, and you will too, or else!"

So, do you have anything substantive to offer in reply, Clare?

Regards,

A.

Clare - Go to the Source, read the satanic verses for yourself!

Islam is not a peaceful, loving thing, it is a Death Cult, and not a religion at all. As for the Qur'an, it's a "how to" book, a Manual of War.

Allah's Apostle said: "I have been made victorious with terror." Bukhari, Vol 4, Book 52, 220

Ask your host, Sir Amillennialist,
to provide a few more, like Qur'an 5:33, or Qur'an 8:12 - Grim stuff.

If you had any intellectual honesty, Clare, you would realize that the Crusades were DEFENSIVE wars fought to protect the Christian Byzantine Empire and to recover Christian land that had already been invaded and stolen by the Mohammedans.

Christianity is the true "Religion of Peace". Nowhere does the New Testament, or even the Holy Bible itself, command unending warfare against "non-believers". In fact, the Prince of Peace commands otherwise, that we are to LOVE our enemies and PRAY for them. But, if we are attacked, we have the right to defend ourselves.

I suggest you do a little more research instead of regurgitating old lies.
